A place for suggestions
7With this being a new endeavor, there are bound to be a bunch of topics and such with no real relevance. Granted, we don’t know much to expect, but in dealing with other shirt like sites, what can mediocritee do better then them?
Should user designed submissions be taken, an individual portal for the designer would be cool. Sales stats, payments etc… Not sure if it ever got added the way it should of at woot, but it was something that was lacking.
Color options: Some designs I like, but not in the color posted. Having a few options for a design would be nice, even if it takes longer to get the product.
So, what would you like to see. Since it’s early, there’s more of a chance to be heard now then after a full launch has been made.

Having colour options would be nice. There are dozens of t-shirts I’ve seen on Woot over the years which I really liked, but the colours weren’t those which I’m keep on wearing necessarily.
@PlacidPenguin It’s possible to allow the purchaser to pick their own blank, if it’s set up that way (and to @Lichme’s point, willing to wait for a custom print).
@PlacidPenguin I feel the exact same way. I have no idea why you cannot pick the color of the blank but still have the design printed on it.
I can understand for those few first days when they silk screen them in bulk but when they become print to order, then it should be an option.
@cengland0 @ACraigL
On the bright side, I’ve saved a lot of money due to the color options not being for me.
@PlacidPenguin hard to define production costs on this but we’ve definitely talked and modeled out some color selection as an option. It’s a really cool way to benefit from truly printing in-house in response to orders in hand.
@snapster
Hopefully this won’t happen again…
Except, if there are color options, I might actually end up buying stuff…
Ugh. Hard decision.
I posted a separate thread for this, but it’s worth mentioning here, too. Quality Control! Tired of getting misprinted shirts.
@jsh139 My READ shirt was printed on a 20 degree angle. If it was logo or something else, it wouldn’t be as noticeable.

@jsh139 appreciated the separate thread. some issues like this and blanks used should definitely expand to their own threads.
I want quality blanks used; no Anvils unless they have a better grade of blank.
@f00l It’s not just the grade; it’s the cut. After Gildan purchased them, they changed the cut to their 64000 blanks.
The old Anvil 980 cut wasn’t awful (if you look past the ever stretching neckline), but the revised cut? – armpit pinchers.
@f00l @narfcake it is both in my opinion - grade and cut. I like longer t-shirts out of heavier fabric, not skin tight, willing to buy men’s if I have to… like the quality T-'s of the past. I have some 1990’s gap t-shirts that look like I should still be homeless due to holes, raveling neck…- soft, thick, not too stretch, nice loose without being baggy cut that are long in length. Reluctant to toss them because I can’t find good replacements.
I know some people like paper thin, skin tight, super stretchy, almost spray on shirts… (eg what is in style right now, or at least most of what you currently can buy which sucks) and if you offer those then offer two different kinds of blanks - traditional good quality thicker t-shirts and then the current useless crap that starts to pill after the first wash (for example many of the Old Navy tee’s that last year anyway were on sale for $5 (and I even bought men’s which tend to be a bit thicker) and this year look ancient due to crap quality.
Options for shirt color would be good. However, a light design on a light color shirt could be really bad; maybe limited options for each shirt
If color choices are offered, it should still be be finite; it’d be a logistical mess otherwise to have to mass produce 100 shirts in 12 different sizes in 16 different color combinations …
Better sizing/placement of the graphics across T sizes. I realize that it’s probably hard/impossible to have a different size graphic for each shirt size, but I’ve gotten shirts (unstealthy ninjas) where half the design disappeared on the sides because it wrapped around too much, and then on a different ninja shirt (I went through an unstealthy ninja phase for a while and bought them all) the design was way too small for the shirt size.
Any chance of hoodies or pull over sweatshirts? I know next to nothing about the business so I might be in left field.
Even an occasional sale where you could get a good deal on a pile of shirts. Or maybe a monthly or quarterly special? These design choices, one dark choice and one light one to simplify a little?
I am up north (bet everyone is shocked). It was 17 degrees this morning. I am always chilled anyway and wear sweatshirts year-round the way you southerners and west coasters wear your tees. Too many of my t-shirts end up as undershirts. Love them but just not warm enough.
@speediedelivery same but opposite reason I like lighter blanks. When it’s 110+ outside, heavy blanks are … well too heavy
@Cerridwyn I live in the deep south and still like heavier blanks because you can’t see through them, (thus I don’t have to wear a bra and/or wear two at once), they last longer… They maybe need to offer one heavier blank and a
nastycurrently in style lighter blank choice.@Kidsandliz I would have to wear a bra no matter what. 30 years ago, another story.
I don’t like the whisper thin ones, have had those before, but I also don’t like ones that I start sweating in while I’m still inside the air conditioning.
Screen Printing on quality blanks!
It’s just not something you find anymore. Everyone has a zillion options on crap DTG printing.
Mediocritee has an opportunity to do exactly what Meh did–return to a successful formula after a zillion copy cats watered down an industry to the point that it was a bastard of its former self.
@kevlar51 No minimums, no screens to setup/expose/prep/etc., no inks to mix, and no need for a huge amount of space.
What’s not to like from the seller’s perspective?
The technology isn’t the issue; it’s the operators.
If were asking for stuff… I want animated designs that have lasers and holograms and background music. But I don’t want to pay more than $7.
@taternuggets Yeeesh. Why not ask for the world too why you’re at it? …
All day breakfast everywhere.
I only have experience selling through Spreadshirt and I need to share my experience.
I am selling on Spreadshirt because it was some combination of best/cheapest/easiest (it’s been a while so I don’t recall specifics) site where I could just upload a design and people could order direct. No minimums, etc. I am only interested in a site that will drop ship to order with no minimums, etc.
However, I have three major gripes with Spreadshirt. 1) Their printing process is not the best. Finer details, like small print, are not reproduced well even if a high resolution image is uploaded. 2) Color matching is a crap shoot. Getting the color right is very important in my designs and I’ve not figured out a way to get the color spot on. 3) This is the BIG one… I need more control over what products my designs are offered on and what colors are available. On Spreadshirt you can only select categories of products and you have to offer all the products in that category even if some of them make no sense, or not offered in a suitable color. I would like precise control over which products my designs are offered on and which colors are available.
I have a few other gripes with Spreadshirt but those are the major complaints that I hope you can solve.
If anyone has recommendations for another site I can try until Mediocritee is live, I’d love to hear them.
