Is it me? I do not understand designs that are made to look like they are worn. I understand the literal bit - they are trying to look like an old shirt.
I just don’t understand the appeal - It always looks like a shirt that is trying to look old and used, not like an old used shirt.
@bdb I can’t speak for everyone else, but I honestly love both the beauty of classic design concepts and how it seems to have a rich history straight out of the box. I don’t own a lot of 40-year-old shirts (ok, none), but many of my interests are certainly from that timeframe. For me, as long as it doesn’t already have holes in it (I’m looking at you modern denim jeans) it’s just nice to have a long-loved look to the style.
@ExtraMedium Thank for explaining that. If I understand you well, this sort of design evokes for you the feel of a long-loved shirt that was designed and printed years ago.
I think it is fascinating that for me the look is jarring, but it works for you.
Separately, I used to hate the look of pre-holed jeans. But now I can see some real artistic effects from some of them. Not what I would wear, but I can appreciate the look.
@yakkoTDI Well, sure. But I was wondering how people who like it see the shirt. @ExtraMedium 's post explained why they like it, and that was interesting.
A lot of these looking-like-they-are-aged designs are printed, not just here. So I can safely conclude most people like the look, and I am trying to understand what they like.
@riskybryzness I dig it! I’m more into the retro garage style with futuristic* references than SW in particular. I like these shirts but I’m (gasp!) not a huge star wars fan so I’ve hesitated just on the thought of getting pinned into some conversation with a hardcore fan where I have to admit I don’t know the details and just liked the shirt (that’s dumb, I know). But that’s me personally, I’d say star wars is generally a safe bet for the masses and my fears are unfounded. I’m back here now because I thought about them over the weekend and thought “yeah, I need to go ahead and order those”.
* I know at least enough to be aware that it is a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. But they’re spaceships we don’t have yet, so it’s futuristic to me.
@djslack We’re trying to get a feel for it-- I’m planning on having some blue box-themed shirts partnered with some gun-toting demon-hunting brothers in a couple of months, but it seems like a series we want to keep around.

@bdb What’s to understand? That is like asking how people can like things you don’t.

Also, is TDI a reference to VW diesels?
@bdb Yes it is a reference Turbocharged Direct Injection.
@yakkoTDI I own a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen!
@bdb I am jealous. As much as I like my 2006 Jetta I would much rather have a wagon.
First time I’ve bought both designs!

I’m pretty sure I’ve never bought a mediocritee before, but we have a few days planned at Galaxy Edge in disney world, so…

What do y’all think of this style format?
@riskybryzness What do you mean by “style format”?
@bdb The garage style with sci-fi vehicles

@riskybryzness I would have bought both for myself had they not been the faux-used faux-distressed look. As I noted above, I just think it looks poor.

Bought one of each, thanks for making them!
Shirts look GREAT! Really glad I ordered!
Thank you so much for sending them before Christmas! They look awesome!
Happy Holidays!
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
Do you people like wearing typos? Millennium has 2 Ns. You’ve been scammed out of your second N and are bound to be mocked by nerds on sight!
@itsthebrod The second ‘n’ is the end of the first one + the ‘i’. Using the two n letters + i + u + m in that font, made it all a mess.
These shirts are cool… and unique. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
